Can they still do that?

Hi,

When my wife turned 65, they dramatically "upped" our travel insurance premiums, so my wife cancelled the policy.

At the end of 2007, I fell in France. Three months later I was diagnosed with a subdural haematoma. Had a hole drilled in my head. (So why are some of you nodding sagely?)

Last week, I realised that she hadn't cancelled a different policy, and I was covered to the tune of £100 for each day I spent in hospital. Whee! £900!

Then I read the small print, and found that this benefit is reduced by 50% for those over 65.

Is it better to have claimed and lost (half) or to have never claimed at all?

Doh!
