cannot get rid of my caravan

Has anyone else had trouble trying to sell there caravan, i put mine on the market 2 weeks ago, i have put it in the adtrader along with autotrader and also on ebay twice, i have not had any calls, and on ebay i have had 2 offers of £1400 which i believe have been from dealers. I am desprite to get my new caravan, but i have put it on ebay again yesterday as it was a free listings weekend. i have also put it onto www.onlinecaravans.co.uk which charge less than www.caravanfinder.co.uk although at first you would not think this until you investigate the charges. But if it does not sell by friday then i think i will need to speak to the dealership who i am on good terms with and see if they can put it on therefore court on commission basis. I think that the price is the problem and as some people have mentioned it maybe the fact people need to take it on finance this is something that i cannot offer i am only looking for £3- £3500 which is a good price considering the dealers are looking at over £4k for the same model and year as mine. Does anybody have any suggestions.

The last one that I sold privately took 4 months and I advertised it just about everywhere.

It was during the November to March period though.

2 weeks is a very short time, so don't feel too disheartened at this stage.

We have just sold ours, and it took 11-12 weeks. Only one enquiry during that time, but I always knew the first to see it would buy.

We advertised on both caravanfinder and autotrader. Our ad was spotted on autotrader (although our buyer had looked through caravanfinder and missed the ad). However, our previous caravan was sold through caravanfinder.

Just as an aside - I have just checked out www.onlinecaravan. The ads I have clicked on seem very dated, i.e. feb 2006 etc?

Its worth comparing the search facilities, number of caravans advertised and when the ads were placed maybe, etc?

We sold our caravan privately last September. We advertised it in the local freeads at half way between book buy & sell prices. Had 4 viewings from the one advert & sold it for just about what we asked.

I guess it is partly luck but I suspect that price & having what people want to buy is also important. We were selling a fairly small caravan that an ordinary car could pull. Dealers offer warranties, finance & will always haggle for a no trade in sale. Make sure you are competitive.

Andrew,

If a dealer is looking for 4k then youre price of 3-3,500 is a bit expensive, what can you/will give by way of gaurantee or back up? I suspect that once the van is off your drive that will be the last you want to hear about it.

Drop your price to what you think is a bargain, and others will think so too, that is how things sell well on Ebay.

Hi there Do you have plenty of interior photos of you van in your ads, as we bought ours from caravans/motorhomes.co.uk because we loved the exterior and interior pics and we travelled from west yorkshire to Cumbria to collect it. so hang in there it will sell eventually.

We put ours in the road outside, during the 'petrol strike', with a For Sale notice in the window, plus a full description, and I produced some description leaflets with photos to send out to anyone who asked for details, and sold to the second person to come to view. We got our asking price, and they got the same van they'd seen in a local dealership for
