Car recommendation

Thinking of getting a Bailey Senator Indiana probably around 2006. My poor old Vectra 2.0Dti (2001) won't be able to cope so
what's the options? Looking at all the Vauxhall range doesn't seem to give anything like the 1500Kg I need but the Ford
S Max looks a possibility?

Suggestions? Looking at around £7000 + trade in.

The Vectra 3.0 CDti with the earlier Y30DT engine is only an option in manual form as the towload limit of the automatic is too low. But the 150PS 1.9CDti shouldn't be discounted.

True, and it's your choice, but I doubt whether you would be able to tell the difference. In over 20 years of caravanning I have never towed below 90% and often closer to 100% and never felt uncomfortable with it.

I tow a Coachman Amara with my VW Touran 1.9TDi. MTPLM is 1465 so I'm around 88%, towing limit on all Tourans is 1500kgs. Been to the South of France, Spain and all over UK with no problems. The 2.0 diesel is better (140bhp) but the 1.9 (105) is the VW staple in various forms. The Touran is well built, loads of space, especially just using 5 seats and a lot cheaper than the S Max. Averages 47mpg solo and between 25 to 30 towing.
