Carabiner snap on hooks

Hi just replaced my breakaway brake safety cable. The new cable is fitted with a carabiner type spring hook, as against the the dog lead type hook.

Will I be able to fix this new hook straight to to fixing point without looping the cable ? Fixing point to small to pass hook through, hook round tow ball now, not ideal.
 
Hi Dave, I have done this on my current vehicle as it is like yours and the hook wont go through the hole.
A fellow caravanner on here said not to worry, but weather it is right or wrong we shall await the answer.
Cant really see the difference though really.
 
If you look on the Al-ko website you will see that the clip is designed for direct attachment. 🙂
