Caravan Antenna

Can any one advise me which to buy ,An Status Digital Antenna Systems 04-3005/5 Status 530 .
or a FOCUS Satellite Systems 03-8040 Focus Upgrade Kit
or aFOCUS 840 Portable Satellite System
thank you JOHN

I use a Sky dish and LNb that cost less than £20 on the web, an aluminium pole from B&Q and my Sky box from home. You cannot get cheaper than that and I get a picture all over europe. Expensive equipment will also get you the same picture all over europe as well. Thats what its all about, getting a picture, not an expensive system. Also read David Sullivans website.

Its not possible to give focused advice without knowing what you want to watch and where.
However there are some aspects worth considering;
Campsites are often in remote location away from conurbations where terrestrial TV is generally targeted, and things are often made worse by the hills and valleys we so often seek.
So terrestrial TV can be rather hit and miss however good an aerial you have.
In areas still with analogue transmissions the digital signal strength is reduced making for increased difficulty, but thankfully by early 2012 the country will all have full strength digital.
Satellite TV gets over all these problems but it is far from assured that you will get a pitch affording an uninhibited view of the satellite. Trees being the most frequent issue.
Over most of the UK you will need to be twice as far from the offending tree as the tree is high; this getting worse as you move north.

I back both horses in that I have the low hassle Status 530 aerial built in the van. That as its so simple is used for my first attempt at getting TV using Freeview. If that fails I carry a portable satellite dish and Freesat decoder. Portable as I pick my pitch and orientation etc to best enjoy the visit; the satellite dish comes second and I position this on the pitch where I can “see” the satellite.
For use outside the UK then for our TV there is no option but use the satellite setup.

Thank you for the Imformation
I am only wanting it for UK use and Freeview Channels from Scotland to Norfolk I was told that The A Satellite dish antenna was hard to align up is this correct as i am one of those people that it takes a long time to sink in john

As you are ony l looking for a system to work within the UK then any of the portable systems will work.
I have had mine for several years now that I bought from Maplins £100 but now you can get them for as little as £49 .
To answer you question, no they are not difficult to set up usually about 10 mins.
Have a look round different outlets and see who has the best deal on,you could start with Screwfix they have a deal on at the moment.
Good Luck
Sir Roger
