caravan awning seal

I am in the process of repairing some damp damage to the interoir of my van, but before I can do that, I am considering removing the awning track to reseal it (this is were the waters getting in).I have already applied soe sealant on top of old but feel this is not enough. Does anyone know were I can get a new rubber seal for this track, my van is a ci esprit flare 1989 4 birth, many thanks

Most caravan accessory shops sell coloured rubber seal by the metre Ian.

Warm it n a bowl of warm water to make it pliable and it will be easy to insert into the gap.

If you can't get the type that you want locally try here

If you are applying mastic in this cold weather you will probably find you will have to do it again in the near future as it is to cold at the moment, I think you need a temperature of around 10+ degrees for it to adhere properly.

thanks, never thought about the temperature, it wouldn't apply to easy either. I'll keep the water out some other way.

Why not wipe the top of the awning rail & van just enough to run some gaffer tape on so it sticks to the roof and the rail, it will help to keep the water out till you get round to removing it... ?

But do the full length from 6" down at the back to 6" down at the front, unless you want to do it all ..?

if you us non set mastic to bed track it should last as it sil iltays plyable .just done a 1989 maruarder awning rail done on a dry day but cold and worked fine.
