Caravan body panels

A friend with a caravan that is no longer manufactured has damaged the rear corner and as a result it is to be written off by his insurance company. Can anyone help by advising where he may get second hand parts ie. breakers yard.

Your friend could also try Caravan Medic their website shows some quite complex repairs. Also there is a centre where you take your van to and they can do repairs without the need to replace the whole panel I recall reading about it in one of the many mags that I get but perhaps someone on the Forum could be more specific.

I visited and did a piece in Practical Caravan on a company called Panelworks, based at Bawtry, near Doncaster. They specialise in repairing panels without having to replace, and seeing their work first hand, I can certainly vouch for the quality. They also have a number of complete panels in stock that they have repaired. It might be worth you (or your insurers) contacting them to see if they can help.

I know the feeling well! It's a good job I have things written down. Now, where did I put my..........................

If an insurance company write off a caravan have you the option of buying it back off them and having the damage repaired either by yourself or a third party?

I found that you can buy most pannels on ebay. It's best to check dailey if the part is not listed as things come and go so quick.
