Caravan Channel TV

I think the caravan channel program shown on sky is so disappointing and sometimes has a negative effect on the industry.

I guess it is all being done on a tiny budget in its defence. But it could be really good to have a quality programme on our hobby - maybe its only me who thinks like this ?

Hi Andy,

I'm just glad that we have a program, with up to date content.

I read somewhere that the lad Chris, was asked to do more work for it and they are getting a " plus 1 hour " slot on a channel too. So it looks to be getting more popular.

Cheers,

Alex.

I am surprised just how un-professional the workers look at all of the manufacturing plants.

The bailey factory workers were all in clothes covered in sealant etc and looked like refugee's

Would not take match to have clean overalls etc !!!

Hi Andy,

Had to laugh mate, the report was on van manufacture, not the latest fashion and sparkling workwear. Fair dos if their clothes were covered in curry stains and grass stained knees, but they do work with mastic and it's a manual physical job.

Please don't take offence, just seemed a strange observation.

Cheers,

Alex.

Hi Alex , Nice Reply - made me smile

To me its all about workmanship , care and attention, Pride in your work etc.

The overall impression was poor.

I am not suggesting it should like like a formula 1 garage but surely (with cameras there) they could do better.

It might explain why caravans suffer from so many leaks - most of the sealant is stuck on the workforce

Cheers

Andy

Fair point mate.

I hav met Chris a couple of times. He's a nice guy who runs Felixstowe TV as well, which is an internet television station.

SLROC were featured a few years back and more recently he made a programme on SKY about us lot too.

It is on sky channel 166, or freesat 402.

You can also watch it online.

Have a look here.

If the link doesn't work copy and paste it into your browser.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I too was gobsmacked when I saw the worker cleave a hole through the roof. Another observation was I thought the build methods looked a bit 'knife & fork' (eg hammering down the roof edge over the sides) compared to the Bailey feature on a previous programme. I assume this is the norm for most manufacturers and Bailey are a step ahead at the moment. (No I am not a Bailey owner) Adoption of car production techniques, (accepting smaller production runs limits this) will ensure improvement in quality.

caravan channel also runs a weekly gold episode on showcase tv tue, thur, sat at 1900hrs channel 216 on sky,

I like the show ,the graphics and music drive me nuts ,but this is a one man show & cant be easy getting 30 minute show ,filmed & edited every 2 weeks.
