Hi I have a very dirty caravan after being stored in a field over the winter. Could anyone give me any recommendations on how to clean it and what to use. Thanks Ian.

Hi Ian

There are so many products on the market and everyone appears to have their favorites but we use a product called Kemdirect from Holland.

The shampoo puts a polymer film on the surface of your caravan and dirt does not stick to it.You do not have problems with black streaks as they just wash off without extra rubbing.

We collected our caravan from storage yesterday for our trip this weekend and Hubby does not need to wash it down as it is not so dirty the rain has washed off most of the dirt.

Pity the inside is not the same my jobs always seem to be there!

If you wish to know more visit www.kemdirect.nl and you can see the other two products as well that Hans has produced.

Hope this helps but I am sure you will get lots of other alternative advise!

Ian, any of the well known cleaners will do the job, Fenwicks, Mucoff, Auto Glym caravan cleaner.

I would suggest you get the one nearest you that is available.

Just recently a test of different shampoos was done by Which magazine and Tesco's own car shampoo came out top.

Just cleaned our van using Halfords car cleaner which has done the task admirably. I have inthe past used fenwicks and it works very well.

Due to a serious shoulder operation last year We used our van all year with the fenwicks over winter still on it. It still looked good even 16 months later.

Not advocating lazyness of man here, but my right arm only had about 20% motability pre operation and a 16 week recovery period ensued post operative.

Her in doors is only 5ft tall so the van was left to fend for it's self.

A good soft broom and the garden hose is the safest bet. Pressure washing can force water under seals and with if grit can get in which will breakdown the sealing characteristics.

Go steady and mind those projections like marker lights etc which easily break.

Steve.
