No problem logging in but the site is obviously experiencing problems, some sites that are open all year are occasionally shown as closed.

One site showed as closed - greyed out on the calendar - but still allowed me to make a booking, subsequently confirmed on "My Bookings" hope it does not vanish as per an earlier post I made on the subject.

I have tried a few times over the last couple of days to log in with no success. Phoned the Caravan Club today, and they are aware of the issue, and I was told I would not be able to log in until next week.

I've just been trying - and I use the Caravan Club website all the time, but can't login to this new version of the website, despite asking for a 'password reminder'.

I've also tried 'enabling cookies' (which were already enabled) but still can't get in.

There is obviously a problem, and it's not 'cobras' but quite what it is I don't know.

View bookings

Members are now able to amend bookings as well as view and cancel. To amend a booking just click on the view button next to the booking and it will give you the option to amend the relevant part of your booking.

Please note that due to the changes we have made to our booking service all UK Site bookings made prior to Sunday 22 March will now have new booking references as you will see in the list of bookings below. This is nothing to worry about and all sites will still be able to find your bookings when you check in on site or call to make amendments and cancellations, all you need is to quote your name and membership number.

You do not appear to have any bookings.

I know it's strange - and I'm a computer literate as anyone else! I used the site just a day or two before it was updated. I couldn't get in after that, but it wasn't urgent, but I do regularly visit the site and haven't been able to get in. I wonder if it's something about length of membership, or when you were first registered.

There are all sorts of strange glitches with computers. On my PC at home I can't do all sorts of things in googlemail - but on my PC when working with a friend I have no problem!

No amount of 'fiddling' seems to make any difference either.

What browser is anyone who can't login using? We use internet explorer version 8 - and since it was 'upgraded' a couple or three weeks ago have had various new problems with googlemail, and with attachments to emails which no longer display properly. I regularly receive emails with picture attachments or electronic versions of brochures - and these are typical of things which don't display.

It would be interesting to find that those having problems are using.

Sorry, that should be 'what' not 'that'.

I too am using Internet Explorer 8 and have no other problems other than the CC website. After reading Val's post I have tried using my laptop which is running an older version of Internet Explorer I think possibly 6 and I was able to log in ok. Hopefully the CC will be true to their word and have it sorted by next week.

I've just had one of those annoying automatic replies - which takes no account of the fact that you've told them you've done everything correctly, CAN remember your password and email address and yet it still won't log you in!!!! Aaaargh. What is it about IT departments that they don't understand:

"I know what I'm doing but your system won't allow me to do it!"

It would seem that Internet Explorer 8 is causing all sorts of problems in peculiar ways.

For example my credit card is Barclaycard Visa, and has been for longer than i can remember. Since upgrading to version 8 i am unable to log in to my account on line.

I rang Barclaycard who admited there was a problem with version 8 and suggested i used another such as Mozilla Firefox. I used Firefox and logged in with no problem. This was 2 months ago and i still have to use Firefox for Barclaycard.

I have hears of other problems with version 8.

However i have had no problems with the Caravan Club.

Hamer - how do you change your internet browser? We've just always used Internet explorer, and although I've worked with computers for years I've never changed browser before.

Thinking about it in more detail, we've had problems logging onto other websites recently. I can't get to certain pages of the Natural History Museum website, for instance. I'm fairly certain my OH has also had problems with a card account - though I can't say which one. In the end he used his company laptop to do whatever it was he couldn't do.

Val,

Look up the website for the one you fancy, and download it. It will install automatically and will ask you if you wish it to be the 'dafault' browser. Click 'yes' and that is it. I have both Maxthon and Firefox on my machine as I like the Maxthon, but Firefox works certain applications better. Maxthon is virtually the same as IE but has more versatility, and less hang ups. You do not have to remove IE from your machine, unless you wish. It will just sit there until you wish to activate it. If you wihs to go back to IE7 then just delete the IE8 using the 'Control Panel/Add/remove programs' and then go to Microsoft and reload IE7

For a list of browsers and some opinions try the following link:

Thanks Scotchlad. I think I'll try and go back to IE7 - which worked fine. The newer version is driving me mad anyway, with continual requests to upgrade various things, and try new ways of 'exploring'!!

I'm going to download one of the alternatives, and try it - and then reload IE7, I think. However, won't my PC continually try to upgrade to IE8 again? How do you stop that, do you know?

Sorry!

It shouldn't. However try Firefox as it seems to have the 'ear' of all the geeks. I admit it does work quite well, although I have yet to get the hang of all the 'ins and outs'. I just push buttons and hope.

As mentioned you can have more than one on your machine and just activate the one you want.

Val A,

I just put Mozila Firefox into Google, click on Download and away you go. As Scotch Lad says it will ask you do you want Firefox to be your default Browser. just click yes.

In the future if you want to load Internet Explorer instead, just click on Internet Explorer on your desktop, or click on Internet Explorer in programs. Internet Explorer will then ask you do you want Internet Explorer as your default Browser, again just click yes if you want it to be.

If in the future you just want Internet Explorer for say one particular thing, when it asks do you want it as your default Browser click no. The next time you boot up Firefox will load instead.

It works vice versa.

I have IE8 installed and I have had no trouble logging in to the cc site, so I think that those that are blaming that are barking up the wrong tree.

I wonder what it is then? I had no problems at all logging in to their 'old' website, but haven't been able to get in since their website was updated. Coincidentally at the same time ours was upgraded to IE8 - and this has caused the additional problems I've mentioned before - which also involve inability to login to a previously well-used website.

I've tried the Caravan Club again this morning and still can't get in - and the Caravan Club have just sent the usual automatically generated emails - so I just can't get any further.

I haven't tried Firefox yet.

I do not know what the problem is. On Saturday I could not get onto the CC website, reported it by email, and on Wednesday tried to get on again and Bingo!!! I have just 15 minutes ago been on again to book Tunnel and all OK. I too have Explorer 8.
