I know we have been there before but the one nighter problem stiil remains at Grin Low and Losehill.

We often stay for two weeks at a time yet unless I book many months in advance I cannot guarantee a place for the whole period. The problem is again the weekend only or one nighters.

Ok , I accept they are fully entitled to do this but surely the CC could leave say 25% of the weekends available to people who want to stay longer and say book at least three weeks before arrival. The software is there for them to do this.

That way everyone will be happy and more fees will go to the CC.

And, no , I do want the non deposit sytem to be changed. Mind you putting your money where your mouth is??????????

Cheers

Alan

Alan. Have you tried contacting the site direct even though the website may show fully booked ?
My experience has been that although the site shows it being fully booked, due to 'no shows' the sites usually are not. I agree, try the site on the phone. The club needs to get much tougher with members who repeatedly do not turn up and have not cancelled before hand. 3 strikes and you are out I say. This would free up many otherwise booked pitches. Some great CLs and CSs in the Peak District you could try. Farfield Farm near Hope is excellent and better views when compared with Losehill.

I agree that a deposit scheme would be bad news. The C&CC have adopted this and I for one am put off using their sites. However, a 3 strikes and you are out system would encourage members to cancel if thy do not intend to show up. Some great CLs and CSs in that area to try as an alternative. Farfield Farm near Hope is great.

Alan,

The new computer systems in site offices give site wardens the identical information as at headquarters.

However it is always worth ringing the warden as he may have pitches which due to say the weather he has closed, but may now be opening again.

He may also have members who have stated they will be leaving early but not yet checked out, Therefore not yet showing on the computer system.

Also if bad weather has been forecast, like this weekend, then you can be certain some people will cancel. hopefully they will ring the site rather than just not turn up.

With the increase in sales of caravans far outnumbering the increase in pitches, and more people caravaning out of season, and more people taking early retirement, it is vital that the Caravan Club come down hard on "no shows".

With telephones, mobile phones and computers, except in exceptional circumstances, there is no excuse for no shows. You may have gathered no shows make me very angry.

Hi Guys

Thanks for all your replies.

I agree here should be a system of 3 strikes and out.

No one person should be allowed to book more than say 2 weekends at the the same site at any time.

Wardens or CC HO should retain at least 25% of pitches for persons wishing to stay longer than a weekend.

I afeel the same as Hamer regarding the no shows , they really p--ss me off.

Chers

Personally I cant see the problem with the caravan club asking for a small deposit on booking. Surely this could be refundable if say 48 hours notice of a cancellation is given. Anything to deter the no showers has to be a good thing imho.
