I had heard about people block booking with the cc at various sites for the same weekend, only to pick the one they want at the last minute(weather dependant)and cancel the others or in some cases just not turn up. I have just done this by mistake(honest)and it wouldn't let me book two sites on the same date. Have they finally stopped the block bookers or has the website always been like that? If it's a new thing it's about time!

They brought in the ban on double booking some time ago. However it doesn't stop you say booking six consecutive weekends and then only taking one. Some will cancel at the last minute others become no shows. You will see from other threads on here this is a very emotive subject.

The latest scam I heard this summer is to book 4 or 5 weekends same site and only go if the weather looks right. Straight from a wardens mouth. J.Lo

Precisely the point someone else raised when they wanted to book a full week but were unable to do so because on face value the weekend is fully booked so they end up having to depart on Friday morning.

Lo and behold, said people duly depart and in reality the site is not fully booked over the weekend because a load of selfish ones have booked lots of weekends and then will decide at their leisure which if any to attend!

Surely this antiquated system cannot be allowed to continue.

I posted this on another thread .

Maybe it would be better if you could only have (say) five bookings at any one time.

The system could easily be changed to do this and there is no money involved.

ok dean, scenario for you.

book up for whatever nights at the going rate of the site, day before departure one of the family take ill and are rushed in to hospital. no way can the break go ahead, you are at bedside of the former.

can happen ye know, along with many other unforeseen circumstances, some folk will be genuine.

there are always going to be ones who use the system to pre-book and then decide at the 11nth hour if they go or not, but surely the majority shouldnt need to pay through the nose because of them.

the real good folk would not book 5 weekends so it would not affect them .the so called club pals would think twice next time ,and if you pay up front you dont have a bill on the day .yes there will be real cases of bad luck but not as many cases of greedy members who dont give a s//t about any boady or the club or the wardens.

personally i dont book anything in advance , but if i did pay in advance ,should i be entitled to a refund if i didnt like that pitch , if i bought something from a shop and it didnt meet my expectations i would ask for a refund , personaly i wont pitch under tree,s ,where if its raining overnight you get a constant drip drip allnight ,or conkers or acorns falling off another pitch i had there was a slight dip in the middle ,which retained water forming a pond in the awning ,yes a deposit is a good idea ,but it would have to be refundable if the pitch didnt meet my expectations

Hello Joby,

As with any contract, if the supplied product does not match the agreed specification than that is breach of contract and could be challenged under SoGA.

The important criteria is that you must agree a specification when the contract is set., so you would have to specificity your preferred proximity to trees.
