Caravan Covers - Easy-Fit option.

As a condition of storeage, (to do with some planning consent requirement by the local authority), I am required to cover my caravan during the winter periods.
Since 2007 I have been using a cover made by Specialised Covers. Absolutely nothing wrong with it and it has served well. Always been a bit of a B***er to put on due to its what is perhaps best described as it 'tea cosy' type of design.
Changing the caravan and hence there will be the need for a new cover in the near future. Recently seen what I think is the other main player in the fitted type of caravan covers, Pro-Tec, advertising an 'easy fit' version. This appears to have a rear section which rolls up to the roof level and it is suggested aides the fitting process. Once in place, roll down and secure.
Does any forum member have experience of using this 'easy- fit' version from Pro-Tec and what are the pros and cons. Does it indeed make the fitting of a cover, which by far is the worst aspect of caravanning I have come across, easier.
Thanks for any advice and comments.

I have never heard of this being a requirement on any storage site, but glad it does not affect us. Is it possible to find another storage site?

Hello Bernard,

Like Surfer I have never heard of this "cover it" requirement before, but I can conceive of circumstances where such a request might be made.

I am guessing that the site you are using is actually a caravan holiday site which only has planning consent to be used for holidays for a limited number of months in the year. So to allow caravans to be stored over winter, they must not be used for habitation, and one way of showing they are not used is for them to be covered.

Less scrupulous storage facilities won't have planning permission so hide the white caravans with a green cover !

Just to clarify the need for a cover. The site has permission for only limited storeage numbers and is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, as they say. Within the Chilterns.
Originally when a new venture into storeage and the application was posted, several objections to the viewing of white boxes from the surrounding hills by walkers. Compromise was the covers! In practice only on in the winter months. Site is convenient and local.

Hi Bernard
I have had three covers made by Specialesed Covers. This Feb at the NEC I decided to purchase an "easy fit" system by Protec Covers. I've fitted this a couple of times now and have had no problems & it is quicker to fit than the previous ones. I agree it's a job/chore which I hate and I feel a lot happier when it's done.
I hope this helps
