On ours (Status 530) you can unscrew the cable and push the aerial up to remove, a bung to fill the hole came with the van when new.
Hi, I have cut up a cardboard box and made a tube just slightly higher than the Status aerial (I unscrewed and removed the pointed top piece). The part of the tube that sits on the Caravan roof may need to be cut in an angle so it sits straight. On the edged of the tube I fitted foam pipe insulating (as used on water pipes in the loft). They split open and the edges of the tube fit inside. Do this both on the top and bottom of the tube, this saves scratching on the Caravan roof and stops the tube edge from cutting into the cover. I also made a smaller version for the chimney as well. This should provide protection for these items and stop the cover putting too much pressure on them coursing potential leaks. Works good for me.

Hi,

I punctured an old tennis ball , and pushed that on the point

of the aerial.

I have left it on whilst using the caravan and the questions as to why it is there have led to very funny conversations.

Cheers,

GerryL,

nice one.............
Not sure if previous post was sent so here we go again - I am similar to Robert - I bought cover this year to protect my van as it is indoors and gets badly attacked by birds - I used the box that the cover came in and cut it down a little so that upside down it just covered my aerial and the flue. cover fits fine - I do like the Roberts idea of the foam lagging but I only need it for bottom of box. I bought a cheap

Hi,

Buy from Spealist Covers and theirs have extra bits in the roof to accomadate fitted ariels

As a matter of interest I have used a Specialist Cover for 6 months. I could not fault the cover in any way what it said on the box it did. The problem I had was covering all the "sharp bits" on the caravan. The ariel still needed covering, this I did with a empty baby food tin so caused no issue. The end of the awning tracks and over window guttering caused me the greatest problems. No matter what I did to cover these sharp area's it failed because of the movement of the cover in the slightest wind. The end result was the cover being damaged and therefore unsuitable for use.
