The disadvantages are 1.Cost

2. Can be fiddly to put on.

3. If you buy a non breathable one, it may well ruin the caravan by trapping moisture inside with the consequent problems associated with that.

The advantages are 1. They protect your van from the vagaries of the weather.

2. The stop fading of curtains and interior soft furnishings.

3. The van is clean immediately and ready for use without having to scrub off a winters worth of green algae etc.

4. They protect your van paintwork from bird droppings and the damage they cause.

5. They disguise what van you have and provide another disincentive to the thieves to overcome.

Hope that gives you some ideas

For my last caravan I had a specialist breathable cover. From the caravan point of view it was briliant, however, I had great difficulty in preventing the cover from catching the sharp areas on the van and evenualy it tore. I tried many things to stop it catching but eventaly the constant movement of the cover would remove the protective padding.

Just something to bear in mind

I have a Bailey Pageant Vendee and have used a Specialised Accessories cover for the last 4 years. Yes, it can sometimes be a bit difficult to put on but with two people it is easier. I have put it on myself fairly easily. You must remember to feed the cover over Status aerials without the spike on obviously, carefully. If you take your time no probs at all. The cover comes with foams spacers to help avoid sharp areas on the van.

This is a well worthwhile purchase and I will be getting another SA cover for the new van. I feel I will have no bother selling the cover for the present van.

i agree with you stephen

i have just removed my cover and it is torn where the chimney sticks out and the bottom awning rail.

next year i will cover these with foam rubber as the advantages of a cover are obvious
