Caravan damp tests

Hi all

Iv'e been thinking about damp tests and the reports that we get presented with following a service / damp test.

Now unless I have completely lost the plot, I recall having diagrams of caravan sides with little crosses all over the place to show where the test has been done BUT cannot remember these charts having a roof of floor area to allow the tester to mark his little crosses.

Does a damp test not include the wettest areas ie. rain soaked floor and roof sections?

Hi Brum, I can only answer based upon my last damp test, My Dealers report included a page with the following diagrams,The page headed Damp test results viewed from inside.

First diagram outline drawing of caravan NEARSIDE.

Second diagram outline drawing of caravan OFFSIDE.

Third diagram outline drawing of ROOF.

Forth diagram outline drawing of FRONT.

Fifth diagram outline drawing of Back.

Note only readings above 15% moisture content shown individually.

Unfortunatly for me my two year old caravan had a damp result of up to 36% on the first diagram, position indicate by three XXX

The Approved Workshop damp report does not show a roof diagram, but the test does include all areas such as around roof vents, flues, aerial fittings etc , with any unusual readings recorded in the box on the right.

Any unusual readings should also be communicated to the owner in person when the van is collected, however if a serious problem is found, the owner should be informed ASAP and given the chance to consider the options.
