Caravan damp

Hi I have just started to attack a big damp problem on my caravan with a small buget. In the roof at one corner I have noticed some small perferation holes. Can anyone tell me the best way of sealing these. Also what do I use to reseal the awning rail. Thanks Ian

Sorry to hear you have found a small area of damp in your van. However, this problem might be larger than you initially think. Unfortunately, water can travel quite a distance so it might be adviseable, even on a small budget, to have it checked out fully with a damp meter. There might appear to be small holes but they may be covering a much larger fault.

Sorry, Ian, misread 'large' for 'small'. Having read your thread again I would certaiinly have it damp checked by a professional. Sealing alone might just cause more problems.

Hopefully, it will no be as bad as first thought.

Yes is a lot worse than I first thought. I have striped down the damp area to find the awning rale has been leeking and has rotted the wood all down one side. This looks like a big job, so I better start changeing the wood and sealing the awning rail. This could be a challenge.
