For the 1st ever time we have returned from a trip away in the middle of winter!Have talked about it before and finally did it.Some friends and family thought we were stark bonkers mad but we were cosy and had all our comforts. We had a wonderful time on Hogmany.Childrens entertainment while we relaxed with a drink.Children played in the snow at a lovely location. We didnt expect too much and that made it so good too.We expected to be sitting in van a lot and kids watching tv, drawing etc.We always wrapped up and went for a walk during the day and then we were all settled when we came back to our lovely cosy van.Fantastic and memorable(and we have some nice snowy caravan photos for your magazine!?!?)

Isnt it just great Caroline. me and the wife have been going away for xmas or new year for 5 years now and we think its the best week of our caravanning year. Just got back from Moor view in Devon, lovely site with great views. No good for you though Caroline (not yet) adults only site.

We spent new years day on Bigbury sands in glorious sunshine, stopped off at the cafe by the carpark and had a lovely hot chocolate before driving back to warm and toasty caravan.

I crowd of us has just got back from spending another cracking New Year near Newark, only 35 minutes from home for us but distance is irrelevant, it's the good company that matters.

In the supermarket, stocking for the trip, I bumped into someone we not seen for some time, she asked what we were up too, when I said what we were doing, the look on her face was picture of sheer horror...they just don't know what their missing LOL

Our 2nd trip ever in our new caravan was for New Year - we loved it! With 3 young kids it was a nightmare thinking about what to do, so off we went in the van. Leaving the comments of our friends and family behind us, we had a cracking time!!

Champagne didn't taste as good in melamine though!!!

Envy you all but l have to help out in the family butchering business, how on earth did you all go on travelling did you miss the snow or were some caught up in it when towing, got more bottle than l would have.

Glad you all enjoyed it.

Caroline,

Sounds great. We'd love to see some of the photos and a little write up if you are interested in telling non-believers the joy of winter caravanning!

Look forward to hearing from you

We did Xmas in our van at Cherry Hinton and decided that we'd do it properly so the china and crystal glasses came with us - can't do champagne out of melamine and Glenmorangie needs a decent crystal glass to do it justice. Had a superb duck with all the trimmings for Xmas dinner and I reckon we were cosier in the van than we would have been at home. You can't beat it, just don't tell everyone or they'll want to come as well.

Yes we love it too, what made us mad was that our friends was coming to join us for the new year, had the BBQ ready food, drink ect, walk round the site to see if they are there, no tried later, nothing!! since we been home no email to say why they did't turn up? Really they own us a apology, can't call that good friendship then , Trevor
