Caravan Fridge Stopped Working

Hi,

I have been away at the weekend and my fridge has stopped getting cool. The green light is on to say its getting power to it. I use the fridge on electric only. I do not use on gas as I isolated the connection due to a slight smell of Gas.

The fridge is an Electrolux RM4270/4271

Has anyone any idea what the cause could be? It was working fine overnight before we left home, it just stopped getting cool after our first day away.

A friend mentioned it could be the element that has gone?

Before i get the mobile caravan doctor out if anyone has any advice it would be appreciated.

Hello Andrew,

There are a number things it could be, The element is one possibility ,but it could also be the thermostat, or the refrigerant system. The refrigerant system is common to which ever power systems is used. If the gas were still connected you use it to check if the refrigerant system was at fault or not.

Did the fridge get cooler when the 12V systems was used when towing?

I think it would be wise to get a mobile caravan engineer to check it out and to sort out the gas leak.
