caravan grill not working

We are having problems lighting our caravan grill. No matter how long we hold the control knob in the gas always goes out and if by some kind of fluke the gas does remain lit, only 2 little flames remain. The gas is turned on at the bottle and all gas taps are on in the van. Anyone experienced this problem or can offer any solutions, any advise is much appreciated.

Thank you

Miss Toast (AKA Andrea)

You dont say what van you have or its age,but on many vans the gas supply to the oven, grill and hob is contolled in a way that prevents fire risk and simply it means that unless the glass lid is FULLY open it will cut off the gas.So check that it is right back,if that doesnt work then it will be the thermal couple that keeps the gas on once the flame has heated it (which is why you have to hold in the knob)if it is this then whilst easy to do many will say it should only be done by a Corgi lpg fitter.

Many thanks for the advice. Our van is a Compass Corona and is 2 years old so if there is a major problem I think the warranty will cover it. Thanks again.
