When I decided 10 yrs ago to go camping and now carravaning the cost at the time did not come into consideration because no matter what sort of holiday you take it cost money, what really matter was that me and family is going on holiday. and even now I do not consider the cost and I do not consider this as being a hobby either.to me it is just a holiday and I might as well enjoy it because I won't be able to spend the money when I am dead

HI Ant - my wife and I had a 1989 Ace Globetrotter 4 berths with a Harrison awning. As you say we did not have hot water but had an oven and also paid to have a manual cassette toilet installed. We had this van for many years with no problems and enjoyed it. We even took it abroad. In 2002 we, on the spur of the moment, bought a Bailey Ranger 500/5 new and our luck changed completely. My wife had to go into hospital for three serious operations so the van had very little use. Following this I suffered stress and had two slight TIAs. However this year we decided to go to Poole for a fortnight as we were both feeling OK health wise. On the way down to Poole the wheel came off the van and it was subsequently written off and left my wife so traumatised she will not now consider a caravan at any cost. The van was only used five times since delivery in December 2002. We have now therefore purchased a motor home and so far every thing is rosey.

Should you have the same fun and enjoyment out of your Globetrotter as we did you will certainly enjoy holiday life. Why we sold it God only knows. Hindsight is a marvellous thing.

Good luck and a happy caravaning new year to you and your family.
Hi Colin sorry to hear your recent caravanning hassles hope your holiday goes well and you have no more misshaps and that the wife gets back into the caravaning bug.there is nothing like a barbaque and a beer on a summers night to realize how relaxing caravanning is once you are there.

regards ant
