Caravan Identity plate

Hello all. I have a Compass Corona 475. Although I have many questions that I have regarding my caravan the first is where is the identification plate? Thank you.

Welcome to the Forum.

You don't say the age of your caravan, but 'modern' vans are identified by a 17 [strike]digit number[/strike] characters (VIN). This is normally written on a plate under, or near, the main door. The plate also contains unladen and maximum weights. The VIN will also be etched into each window. The last few digits will also be on the chassis manufacturer's plate somewhere underneath the van. The first few [strike]digits[/strike] characters are the manufacturers code and model plus year of manufacture.

Hello and thank you for your reply. My main reason to locate the identification plate is to age my caravan. I'll pop and have a lookey when it's light.

The plate on modern caravans is usually low down by the door. On older ones it might be on the A frame.
If you cannot find the plate if you post a photo someone may be able to get close to the age.
This web site lists nearly all caravans and only shows yours as 2001 to 2005, http://www.caravantalk.co.uk/caravan-specifications/compass

Thanks Ray. I can confirm that there is an absence of identity plate around the door area!!! :blink:

Hi Stu 1969, welcome to the forums, whilst your learning how to post photos, try putting them into the Test Photo thread in Photograps section, it saves filing up the thread with blanks , as I did.

Don't worry, we've got plenty of computer monitor paper :lol:
Seriously though, it's a simple matter for us to remove blank spaces so don't be afraid to try posting photos and images.

......all the information you are looking for is stamped on your caravan windows.
You will find your caravan's Cris registration number somewhere on every window.
Copy the number down and then decipher it using the information contained on this web page.

My advice to decipher the window code was specifically to help the OP ........web research suggests the model of caravan the OP was asking about was first marketed in 2001.
