You pays your money and take your choice. Different insurance companies give different deals, but with our new van 3 1/2 years ago we went for Caravan Club.

I'm not able to tell you which is best, as that depends on exactly what you want, and really you need to check the details of each policy.

There is a general suggestion that cheapest offer is rarely the best, and certainly there are several reports on this forum that suggests the policies offered by the two caravan clubs do seem to offer a good range options, but there other providers with good reputations. However there are some providers who have a poor reputation when it comes to making claims so do lots of research.

Lots of people on here will tell you the excellent claims experience they have enjoyed with the two Clubs schemes.
I'm with the Caravan Club.
Their policy cover is wide and generous. Unlike some Insurers they do not seek out the small print to repudiate your claim.
I hear good reports on the NFU but can't say much about the rest including the worst who we are not allowed to mention.
As the Prof says it's not just about premium cost.

The first new caravan that we ever bought was insured with the Camping & Caravanning Club on a 'new for old' policy.
This meant that if the caravan was destroyed or stolen the full amount that we paid for it would be covered, plus extras such as the awning, tv and everything else used in the caravan even including the wheel clamps and hitch-lock.
Unfortunately 2007 saw widespread flooding and the riverside site that we were on was flooded and so was our brand new three month old caravan, we were devastated! :(
We contacted Club Care, the C&CC insurance organisation, and they immediately removed all of the worry and stress from the situation.
Their assessor arrived within a day or two when the site was accessible, he declared our caravan and everything in it a total loss so we were sent a cheque to replace lost equipment within a very short space of time and invited to visit a dealer of our choice to choose a brand new replacement caravan of the same value as soon as we were ready. :)
(As it happened we decided to add extra funds and upgraded to a fixed bed twin axle end wash room model from the same manufacturer)
The C&CC couldn't have been more helpful and I have no hesitation in recommending them.
They are not the cheapest but neither are they the most expensive, and we have continued to insure with them since and would never consider changing.

i have to agree the clubs almost certainly offer the best policies for the reasons stated. If you are not a member then NFU and Saga have good reputations. There are other good policies out there but beware of any that look too cheap.

insurance is only as good as when you make a claim... i was with the caravan club they act as brokers cannot recall who the insurance was with and i had to make a claim in 2011. it is important to keep all your receipts of bought items that you store in your caravan even if it is 5 or 6 years past..even things given to you as gifts you really do need receipts...worse on the claims form i was asked to give the items a secondhand value regardless of any receipts i had..after all of this i found that our valuations were too different and the claim went well past 3 months as i refused to except .their under valuation especially for my German made caravan. even though i had used ebay and the auto trader as reverence..eventually we settled 2k above the so called final offer frankly i still felt that was 1k short and given the time i had to put in to argue the facts maybe more..so be warned..
