Ihavea twin axle caravan fitted with a Powrtouch mover in front of the front axle, it is still a pig to turn. Anyone tried to fit one of these behind the rear axle? If so what about the jacking points?
Thanks Martin. Unfortunately the pre drilled holes on my chassis are behind the rear axle. The space between the axles is simply a web of chassis with an enormous cut out. I really don't feel confident about jacking under this ammount of fresh air.Roger, I have the Powrtouch fitted at the rear of my T/A and when I level or use the Jack, I place the Jack between the wheels. I use the same jacking point on the Chassis, that one would fit the Alko or Kojack clamp. Not sure if this is the correct place, but I assume that if this is where Alko have put the pre-drilled holes, then Alko must assume that others would use this same place as their jacking point,
best regards, Martin
Thanks, The cables being cut are not a problem, I can splice in additional lengths. My concern is mainly with the Built injacking points.Yes you can fit behind wheel, which allows you to take some weight off the front wheels with the jocky wheel when using, but it is never going to give you great turning capability. Suggest you consider an upgrade to the new Model 6 which is 4 wheel drive, PowrWheel will give you a good price to upgrade. Also if your motor cables have been cut they will probably not be long enough to fit behind wheels.
Thanks, I didn't know about the 4 wheel drive option. Next stop Powrwheel site------again.Yes, the Powrmover can be fitted behind the axle. However, it is not recommended by the Company because it will then be exposed to all the road dirt and water thrown up by the wheels. Although the units are sealed, it is a slight area of concern. But if you wish it, or need it that way then it will work just fine.
