my dad recently died and has left me his caravan, there is one small problem. i cant find the keys!! is there anywhere i can get replacement keys or do i have to get a lock smith to replace all the locks????

please help

thanks

We bought a used car for my wife a couple of weeks ago and the previous owner said that he had lost the spare key and there was no number on the main key. However, by giving the dealer the chassis number of the car he managed to order the appropriate spare from the car manufacturer. I would imagine that the same should be possible for a caravan, too.

if you can get into the van or drill the lock barrel out new lock barrels can be obtained from here www.caravanspares2repairs.co.uk

Hi Maria

If you go to a dealer who deals with that make of van give them the chassis number and proof of ownership it should not be a problem.Hope this helps .

One can usually get into the caravan through a window, even without damaging anything. I inadvertently dropped my keys on the ferry and didn't notice until I got to France. By jiggling around a bit I was able to open a locked window without a problem and was then able to unlock the door from the inside. (Fortunately, someone found the keys lying on the car deck and posted them on to me a few days later.)

One van i had would open with my garage door key.

Worth a try if you have a few worn keys around.

I once viewed a van that i suspected was stolen, the door lock had been converted to work with a screwdriver!

thanks for all the info, im going to ring a dealer tomorrow and see if i can get another set. if no im goign to get the drill out!!!!

Thank you all

Thorpedo,

They are not called Heather, they SELL Heather and most of them have accents that are not the same as the local one,

best regards, Martin
