Caravan mover

My experience as follows arrived home used the mover to position the caravan up slight incline, stopped pressing remote, but the caravan moved forward into my car . I then immediately used the remote to move the caravan up the incline again putting on the handbrake so it would not move. The mover company checked the gap between the roller and the tyre read as being in excess of 25mm (recommended 20mm) also loose cables to the mover box from the key. The caravan sales team say that all of the above is impossible and that the mover was not engaged fully, but they then say it would not the caravan back into position. Has anyone had this experience or any ideas thank

The gap on most single axle movers should be 20mm between the tyre and the mover roller before engaging.
Loose wiring should not really make much difference, apart from not being right, except to make a high resistance point, which as you had moved the van was obviously not causing a problem, but sill needed attention.

From your description I guess that you reversed the van up the incline,,,,,,,,but did not apply the hand brake when in the position you wanted and relied on the mover to hold the van there.
It is quite possible that the weight of the van being on a slope will allow the wheels to turn, albeit very slowly, which will allow the rollers to turn, and the motors to turn as there is no lock on the transmission from motor, through gearbox to roller.

It is for this reason that mover makers state that you should NOT use the mover as a brake.

Hi I tried to keep my last message to the point but I guess to get feed back from other caravaners a bit more information would be helpful.
The mover was engaged manually, I have been given such conflicting information that I really don't know what to believe.
Powetouch tell me that the gap between roller and tyre could be the reason the caravan moved down the slope, someone else tells me that what I have explained could have happened as manually it is either engaged fully or not, no part engagement.
Winchester Caravans who I bought the two year old caravan from tell me that it is impossible for me to send the caravan up the drive, for it to move down hit my car then for me to immediately move it up again with remote.the brake was applied the second time when it stopped. This is the first time in 20+ years of caravans get that I have had a mover, thus the lack of knowledge and understanding as to what happened

As you have the manually operated engagement your gap should be 20mm , no more,
You said it was 25mm which would be too much and the rollers would not engage as tightly as they should, and the van moved.
With manual engagement the rollers are either ON or OFF, there is no in between.

It does sound as though it is fitted badly as the engagement is either on or off and for it to move back on the slope it cannot have the correct connection. I would ask Powertouch to give you a written report and then take this to the dealer. If they will not budge then your only option seems to be to get Powertouch to correct the problem and you then have to decide if the cost justifies a small claims action.
