I heard today that Al-ko are concerned regarding chassis fixed motor movers and possible twisting that can occure. Anyone able to shed any light on this, or had similoar problems?

Steve,

See page 9 of the March edition of Practical Caravan magazine which may help ease your concerns.

Briefly it states there had been an incorrect statement regarding AL-KO's view on motor movers in last month's magazine, it concludes with:

" When a mover is attached to an AL-KO chassis by drilling or welding component parts, this action would invalidate the warranty protection of the chassis. In practice, this situation does not arise as the manufacturers are aware of AL-KO's restrictions when their products are fitted"

Hello Stephen,

I can confirm Rob-T's response. It was a key element of the design, that no drilling or welding would be needed, because Al-Ko would not honour any warranty on their chassis if it had been modified. In practice the addition of a motor mover is likely to stiffen the chassis side members.

Equally I can confirm John Watsons remarks. I have a twin axle box trailer, which had a jockey wheel mounted on the side face of the A frame. It was offset from the centre of the trailer by about 30cm. I was concerned when I saw the way the side face of the A frame distorted jockey wheel was down. Fortunately The coupling head had two holes just the right size and distance apart to take the jockey wheel so I moved it. Now the jockey wheel is broadly speaking on the centre line of the trailer and is far better.
