I had my motor mover for about 5yrs Disadvantages are initial cost, use up some of your pay load thats it. Advantages make moving the van simple,no need to reverse the van so easier on the clutch, can put the van in even the most awkward spots,no strain on the back, no arguements with the other half (probably worth it for this alone) just make caravaning more enjoyable.Im certainly a convert will never have a van now without a motor mover hope that helps.

I totally agree with Gilbert in every way. The other joy is seeing the expressions on the faces of people who have never seen a mover in operation before as you wander past seemingly pulling the 'van along with one finger.

Also saves on arguments too!! We're new to caravanning and backing our van onto our very tight, slightly sloping drive was a challenge - now, I move the car whilst Stuart literally "pops" the van into place on the drive - not a crossed word in sight - bliss!!

We've had our powrtouch mover for 18month. I thought is was a bit of an extravagant luxury until I used for the first time.

I now wouldn't have a van without one

No strain, I can get the van 7'2" into it's 8'6" slot between the garage wall and the fence totally unaided (and with enough clearance so we can open the door to get in and out and to kneel down to get the wheel clamps on, although its a bit of a strain to get up again in the narrow gap). I can hitch up and locate the van within inches without any help whatsoever. Even my 10 year old grandson can move the van exactly over the tow ball.

Go for it

Had our Powrtouch two over two years now, agree with Gilbert on every count. We always had to have help to man handle our vans in and out of our garden over the years, but now I do it alone and take it right up to the tow ball, well worth the initial outlay.

I have to disagree with Duggie on this one !

You dont have to have a 110 amp battery fitted for the movers to work ! most caravans dont have space for one ! they work ok with a 85 amp .

Had a Powrtouch fitted just over a year ago. Absolutely brilliant, but it doesn't stop me reversing onto a pitch. True it will work with either 85 or 110 amp batteries but the longevity of performance will obviously drop off far more quickly with the 85amp. Are you sure the physical size of the two batteries is different? They look the same to me at our local dealer.

There are plenty of earlier threads on this subject.

Cheers

Alan

I don't agree that most caravans don't have space for 110amp hour battery as they fit into the standard battery box fitted to recent caravans albeit very snuggly

I do agree the 85am hr could be sufficient as we used one for years

But we have the van at home and on charge or on tow on charge or on site on charge

If you store it on a storage site it would be adviseable to have the 110 amp hour battery I would think

I weighed our 110 amp hour battery on the bathroom scales and it weighed 4st 3lb

Using an 85 amp hour battery could save about 25% of that weigh I would imagine but that only about 1st or 28lb

We have the Powrtouch with auto engage and the product is only surpassed by the 5 year guarantee and the excellent service/advice
