Well heres an update on nose weight! I have been having problems getting the caravan nose weight to be correctfor the citreon picasso which is 54kg! The caravan is a light weight van which is a bailey 460/2 yr 2000. When i first weighed the nose it stated over 100kg which shocked me!! so I moved kit around and I could only get the nose weight to be 60kg, so i was 6kg out. I have a bit of a dilema as going away soon to oban and would like to take two pedal bikes with us, so I have been looking to see what i can take out to get the weight correct, the only thing I can think to take out of the caravan is one of the gas bottles. I have a calor light 6kg which has a gross weight of 10.5, I have a 3.9kg calor bottle which weighs nearly the same, so have 21kg just in gas bottles at the front, I have also now taken all kit out of the front seat storage.
So to recap at the minute I have a caravan which will have one gas bottle which weighs 10.5 gross, I will have some bedding under the front seats, and two bike in the van with a few accessories but not much, most of the heavy items will be in the boot of the car!
Does anyone have any idea on other ways to keep the weight down, i know the bikes will be heavy but i really want to take them, the calor bottles i have are both full.
is it true if you put stuff on the axle it wont affect the nose weight?

Have you thought about a roof box ?
Or a bike rack for the roof of the car ?
That way you will be able to put items that take up quite a bit of room / weight ( dependent on the max loading of your car roof ) ?

We use two kamei roof boxes, only because the dogs travel in the rear of the truck, & have about 35kg in each side....

You need to pack items securely on the floor behind the axle & that will alter your nose weight , but not right at the back ...

We have looked at the weather and have decided we wont be taken the bikes, so if i can pack some of the heavy stuff in the car and put some stuff behind the axle i should be getting to the nose weight i need. Its harder than i thought getting the nose weight correct. I am only borrowing the car at the moment as i dont have a tow car yet, once i get my own i will have a better nose weight to play with.
Thanks for the ideas.
