Caravan price guide

Hello,

Is there a caravan equivalent to the Parkers (?) publication which gives the value of caravans by age and model?
We have a 15 year old Lunar Clubman 530-4 and we would like some way of finding out what it's worth.

Many thanks,

Carol.

Hello Carol,

Yes there are trade guides,

for example Google "caravan trade price guide"

but these are for traders not the general public.

As with anything, its only worth what someone is prepared pay for it, and especially with older caravans condition is critical.

Trade guides usually only go up to five years old. After that the price tends to be guesswork. At 15 years old most caravans have a fairly nominal value.

Have you tried surfing the internet for people selling your type of van to get some idea of price? At that age a dealer would offer you less then half the price he would sell it on for.

There is a Glasses Guide (as for cars) but only available to trade now. Some years ago CC members could access it at about £3.50 a pop but no longer. This is a real nuisance as I found out a year or more ago when trying to establish the difference between a certain new-ish caravan in ;good' condition as opposed to excellent or poor.
One way is to put name and age of your existing van into google followed by 'for sale' and see if you can find anything like it being offered. Discount the ticket price by about 25%. Another is to make good friends of your local dealer and have a peek at his trade guide.

The 'we buy any caravan' merchants were offering less than 50% of list for a 1 year old caravan !
