Just booked my van in for a service (Spring time) with the dealer I bought it from and was quite shocked at the cost £250. Seems a bit expensive to me.

Is that the average price?

Thanks for the replies.

It's a single axle and when I bought it I got a year's warranty that's why I have to take it back to the dealer to be serviced just before the year is up.

When I queried the cost he said something about they have had to put their prices up due to having to dispose of some things in an environmentally friendly way.

Why?

Take Lisa's advice...

I paid 120 quid at S+D Harper in Elgin for full service. Local dealer in Inverness said they only serviced 'vans sold by themselves! (Stuff em!)

Would thoroughly recommend S+D Harper though. Great service, good shop, very friendly and helpful staff,

Gavin.

P.S, If anyone from S+D Harper reads this, do i get my next service half price???

I would go with Dells advice too. In fact I would be searching out a mobile caravan service company. They come to you (or your van) and usually end up much cheaper. I have a number for a company in North Notts Lisa, if you want it.

The concern here would be if you had some major warranty work to be done and whether they could give you a loan caravan if there is going to be a delay with the repairs.

Our 2004 Lunar 640 has to go back to the factory as the outer side walls are bowing outwards and have moved away from the inner walls so much so that the hand basin that is in a corner between the inner wall and the outer wall has cracked due to stress.

In addition, the floor around the kitchen area has started to de-laminate, the heater does not work properly and has never done so since day one, the cupboard where the table is kept, is coming apart, the drawer above the heater has fallen apart (this is the second drawer in there), one of the batten boards by the seating in the front has come adrift, mould has formed on the rear wall under the bed, otherwise the caravan is okay!

Thought we had it bad!! Our 2005 Stirling 600 has to go back to the factory it has 60% damp in the bathroom (end bathroom). It has to go back for aprox 6 weeks, it also has to be totally emptied (even upholstery) so we are having to put everything into storage at a cost of approx

Just a note to check when you take it in for service whether it will be covered on their insurance. When we took out twin wheeler to Outdoor Experience we wanted to fit the hitch and wheel locks and the mechanic said to leave them off as covered by their insurance, we informed him that our insurance would be nul and void without these locks. A week later when we went to collect it the manager told us that it was not covered by their insurance, thankfully nothing had happened to it!
