Hi Mags & Alan

You service your van the month that you bought it to keep the warranty in date.

We purchased our van in December 2006 that's why I have booked my van in for December.

Mags and Alan,

If you have a Swift Group caravan your service is upto 3 months before or 2 months after the date of delivery.

However your 3rd annual service, at end of 3 year warranty period, must be before the date of delivery in that year.

Bailey serviceing is different. I don't know the exact time scale but i think it covers a 6 week period.

Other manufacurers may be different.

These dates are only to keep a valid warranty.

Hi Steve

Jo-anne comes from Coventry and tells me the Home Counties were never mentioned in her geography lessons!

Me, born in sutton surrey, spent 3 years in Burgess Hill West sussex, last 30 years in Wiltshire.

Cheers

Hi folks,

Many thanks for your replies,it does seem that it pays to shop around a bit for servicing prices.I will be looking more to the mobile servicer in future as it seems that dealers do take the "micky"somewhat over there servicing charges.

Jo-anne the home Counties cover Hertfordshire Buckinghamshire Surrey etc.I'm in Hertfordshire not the posh part.Jim

Hi Jimbob

From what I heard I do not think that mobile services are as thorough, because they are unable to pick the caravan or the vechicle up on ramps to check all the underdside.

Don't forget to make sure they are NCC approved or dealer approved as this could compromise your warranty with the manafacture.

(You will need to ask them if they are NCC approved because because they are not obliged to inform you).

im sorry but if he spent 2 hours doing the service, he couldnt have possibly completed a full service. a full service should always take approx 4 hours to complete it thoroughly.

Hi Caravan Oracle,

I would like to know where you get the figure of 4 hours for doing a service on a caravan. You have no where near as much work to do on a caravan as one has to do on a car and that can be done in 2and a half hours. So please how do you justify 4hours on a caravan?????????

My opinion is that we get heavily turned over by the dealers both on servicing and buying accessories and how do we know the job has been done thoroughly?Jim

Allyson,

With the greatest of respect, you quite obviously have not looked under a caravan and I would say very little knowledge of the workings of a caravan and and could have the wool pulled over your eyes quite easily. If I had the time I would do my own sevicing as it reasonably straight forward bar the gas side of the servicing which is a Calor Gas trained job.Jimbob
