Thinking of taking the caravan to Jersey this year. Has anybody ever undertaken this type of holiday in the Channel Ilse? I would be grateful for any advice on this adventure regarding ferry crossings, costs, requirements, etc. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanking you in anticipation.

Bad news for you, there are no caravan sites on Jersey and you are not allowed caravans on the island. Here's a quote from relevant site

CARAVANS/MOTOR HOMES/CAMPER VANS/TRAILER TENTS There are no caravan sites in the island and caravans may not be imported. These are not normally permitted entry for any form of holiday use. In exceptional circumstances the Planning and Building Services Department Tel: 725511, will give permission if it is essential for the transportation of a disabled person with wheelchair but still not at any time for sleeping purposes. Only trailer tents which have canvas sides and roof are permitted. Those which, when erected, have rigid sides or roof and resemble a caravan are not

As far as I am aware you have to book the site and the ferry with the Camping & Caravanning Club as this is the only way caravans are allowed on Jersey.

I stand corrected, there does seem to have been a relaxation on this in the past couple of years, worth fully checking out though. This site looks good http://www.caravancampingsites.co.uk/channelisles/beuvelande.htm

Yes you can take your caravan to Jersey (They started a pilot scheme 2 years ago)

Sites: Beuvelande Camp Site at St Martins (01534 853575) Pool, restaurant very nice site

Rozel Camping Park also at St Martins (01534 855200) also with pool good site

These are really the only 2 sites which can practically take caravans at the moment.

Normal travel is by Condor Ferries.

You can book via Camping & Caravanning Club or the sites can also book the whole package ferries & site fees, they get a good concession from the ferry company - get a quote from both ways.

Both sites arrange to meet you at the ferry port and escort you to the site which is very good especially as some roads are very narrow and they know the best way for caravans

Jersey is a very nice place to go and you can get to the other Islands easily.

If you can try to go to Herm it is wonderfull little Island

Have a good holiday

I should have added to my other reply that it is quite expensive to take your caravan to Jersey but when you consider its location compared to say Cherbourg you can understand why ferry costs are high. Normal ferry crossing time is about 9 hours or fast cat about 4 hours (I don't not what limitations Condor put on caravans on the fast cat)

As I said before get a quote from the sites they are very keen to attract caravanners from the mainland.
