Caravan sites in Vendee, France

Can anyone recommend a good site in this region of France. We plan to go there in July next year. We would like one that is suitable for young children.

We also have young chiildren and have visited a few sites in this area. La Yole, in the northern part of the vendee. This is a nice smallish site with a good play area and a medioca pool area including an indoor pool. It has a decent bar, restaurant and takeaway and a very good basic shop. Either the local beach at Les Mouetts or the one at St Jean de Monts would involve driving. Sequoia Park (Castels site) at Marennes is a large busy site. Plenty for young children to do. We went at Whitsun which is out of season but would imagine that it could get very busy in high season and although it has a very large pool complex it's use could be stretched. Again a car drive to any beach. A site that was our second choice one holiday - we did not go but other members on the forum have been happy with it - Le Puits de L'autres - just slightly north of Royan. This site is right on the beach so you have the choice of the pool or the beach. it has its own website and is also in the Caravan & Camping Club's carefree holidays abroad book.

We stayed at Camping Boutinardiere, just outside Pornic for the whole of June this year. The pool complex has been updated with inside and outside pools, jacuzzi and water slides etc. There is a good childrens play area, a pool bar, TV room, take away and restaurant (with very reasonable prices) and a lovely beach a five mnute walk from the site. Pitches are good size and the staff helpful and friendly. I believe there is a childrens club during high season. The are many places of interest to visit in the local area, including ship building tours and WW11 submarine pens at St Nazarre, Pornic and other local beaches.The area enjoys a microclimate as it is sheltered by the island of Normantiere ( another interesting day out, especially the trip across the submerged causeway at low tide). Can't recommend it highly enough, we will return next year, my main memeory is opening the blinds each day to glorious sunshine and another lovely day in paradise!!
