Sorry about the earlier false start.
Wife and I are looking at taking the caravan to Paris in the Spring/early Summer. Has anyone knowledge of a convenient and decent campsite near a Metro station giving easy access to the City ? Would be grateful for any information about that or any other relevant information. Thanks.

There's quite a choice of campsites near to RER (not Metro) stations - but they all suffer from the 'big city' problem of being busy, perhaps a bit expensive for what you get, and sometimes with a lack of frills.
There is Camping International at Maisons Laffitte, five minutes from a station, 20 minutes into Paris.
Camping Bois de Boulogne, nearlly in central Paris, crowded and busy
Camping Huttopia at Versailles - again near a station.
Camping Beau Village, 2 minutes from a station
Camping International de Jablines, at Jablines
Camping Les Courtilles de Lido at Fontainbleau.
and others.
Some people recommend one, some another, but they're probably all Ok for a short stay, but not somewhere you'd want to spend the main part of your holiday!

Thanks Val A. Just what we wanted - didn't know where to start. We'll look each one up and make a choice. Many thanks again.

Coops.

We stayed at the Bois de Boulogne in May 2010 for 4 nights. The site is on the banks of the River Seine. It was very clean with good facilities. It was not crowded at that time. There is a bus stop right outside the gate and the bus takes you to the metro station which takes about 6 mins. It is only a short train ride into the centre of Paris. Would recommend it.

Try this link to
Camping International
Maisons-Laffitte
We rallied there during Easter of 2010, a short walk into the largeish town with rail direct links into the centre of Paris and all Metro stations...Even Disney if your needs be.
Site is to the north of Paris and on the banks of the Seine. Good toilet / shower blocks and shop / restuarant.
The site is well signposted from the town centre but access is along suburban streets with parked cars on either side. The locals seem reluctant to reverse to let a car and caravan past.
We would recommend this site and would go again.
