Caravan spares prices

Looking at Prima Leisure today I was very surprised how much the cost of spares has increased. Eg about 5 years ago the two TODs were about £6 each Now£41.00.The Truma 12 v heater fan motor was circa £90 now £178.00!
Someone somewhere must be making a real fortune🤬🤬🤬🤬

TOD is it Torque on demand ? Thermal overload detector?

Dont wish to be pedantic, but the last time I looked, most of Russia was in Europe. Whilst there is some mileage inthe excuses of Covid, brexit and the driver shortages, I think there is also an element that companies are seeing thses issues and using it as an excuse to hike prices. In reality, its a bit of both.

Just watched a programme about rising prices .

One guy buys most of his stock from China and the shipping cost prior to Covid was £1500 per container, now it is £9000.
Also it seems there is a world wide shortage of shipping containers.

Some years ago I did some work with Maersk and was surprised that it cost three times as much to transport a container from its entry port on U.K. than it did to bring it from China. We looked at moving containers direct from the big container ship onto smaller container ships that would off load at smaller coastal ports. But the infrastructure wasn’t mature and funding/planning would be a nightmare.

Having had to specify some very similar 12V motors back in 1990's the Mabuchi motors we used were costing about £7 landed for 20K per year. When we had to supply as spareas after admin and delivery our costs were £20.
Dealers typically had a 50% mark up making the cost to the consumer about £30. Today that would equate to about £47.

Truma have always been expensive becasue they have a monopoly.

I carried in my car to Switzerland a Gazzebo cover, the cost to ship it to my friend by Amazon was 3 times the cost of the item.
Shipping costs can be stupid. As can cost of items from China.
Sorry for your prices, EW 1999.

Putting the name caravan before a spare doubles the cost, someone is making a fortune although I do accept there are some cost increases due to problems beyond the control of the industry. For the more expensive ones a quick look at Amazon and e bay may help.
