As a forum newbie I might be raising a subject that's already been thoroughly covered. If so I apologise. However, I'd be grateful for any advice members might have about Caravan storage sites in and around South Yorkshire. Any recommendations or cautionary tales would be very gratefully received.

Thanks,

John Stride.

A bit of advice - make sure the site has space before you actually buy a van! We had friends who refused to believe that it might not be that easy to find somewhere - and were surprised to find, after they bought a van, that some sites near us have waiting lists!

Other than that, the best thing about our storage site is that we have electronic access 24 hours a day, and can remove and take back our van when we choose. It makes it so much easier if we want to leave at a strange hour, or return after an afternoon ferry and put the van back after midnight.

That is a good point - we store at Yorkshire Caravans and although we appreciate the good standard of protection offered, we are unable to take the van out before 9 am and have to return it by 5.30 pm.

No movements at night might be inconvenient, but could be a security advantage.

Also if you have a large caravan, some storage sites do not have space for them.

You have to weigh it all up.
