If you mean releasing the mover rollers from the wheels, will it push? The answer is, yes it should. If nothing is seized on.

The rollers should not be left on the tires long term.

Yes the movers are off,but put them on obviously when trying to move caravan, it will move about 8 Inc back and forward,im saying if I take wheels off,the brake drums should move freely?,if not there is something binding?,sorry terrible with mechanical work

It points towards battery issue.

Try taking the battery off the caravan and charging it on a standalone/smart charger then get the battery tested

Done that,it's fine, pretty sure something to do with brakes, shoe stuck ?,going to take wheels off tomorrow see if they move freely, if not then start taken which ever side won't move apart,I did 1 few weeks ago took the wheel off it wasn't moving, few taps with hammer it was free, didn't do other side just took it as that was OK,tried to get wheel of that 1 today the nuts are stuck,so sprayed with wd40 ,try tomorrow, I guess that's not a good sign if there stuck

With the possibly "stuck" wheel jacked up, and the other wheel chocked, without removing the wheel, and of course the hand break released, attempt to turn the wheel in the forward direction, this might release the brake shoes. "Tapping" the hub with a 2 lb hammer might help.

I would recommend that the caravan is given a good service prior to use as there may be other issues that you may not notice until you go away with the caravan.

I am sure that there are many mobile AWS technicians that can attend to the caravan on site?
But some people like to do it themselves. Tiger nutter, has just asked about releasing the wheel, they might just want to move the caravans position and use it as a man / lady cave

There is no comment on the make of mover, but being able to move a short distance and then cutting out is often due to a dying remote battery. With a Powrtouch the LED adjacent to the button being pressed will light up, but if the battery is on its way out all 8 LEDs light up when any direction button is pressed.

Tigernutter - does the caravan move backwards and forwards 8" or is it just the car moving?

If the caravan can move 8" backwards and forwards, it may be connected with the automatic reversing mechanism - only cure is to jack it up, remove the wheels, hut nut (very high torque) and drum and examine the internals.

If it's just the car moving backwatrds and forwards, compressing the hitch, then my guess is that the brake shoes are stuck to the drums - this can happen even with the handbrake off when not moved for long periods - tapping all round the drum with a hammer may free it - bit more than a tap but not a full-blooded swipe!

Latest news of this long saga, got both wheels of ground, and both move freely, still not moving, could it be something to do with the AL-KO hitch
Just a long shot and I am sure you must have done it , are all the stabilisers wound up. This is very strange.

If the wheels are free to rotate when off the ground, then it should roll when on the ground. Are they free to make several complete rotations in both directions?

Given that fact, either there is something on the ground which is preventing the caravan from being moved, or the tow vehicle or caravan mover is malfunctioning.

The caravan hasn't been chained to secure it? Are the wheels in big holes? Or on soft ground?

If you can lift the caravan to check the brakes, then put some scaffolding boards under the wheels to give it a smooth surface to run on.

That's a good thought, but not when using the motor mover.
In post #9 they mentioned that they tried to pull it with a vehicle and nearly burnt out the clutch which is why i thought of breakaway cable? If they used the car to try and move it, that eliminates the battery from the equation. TBH there should be nothing on the caravan preventing it moving if the wheels are turning freely?

If he can't move it, there is no point in getting it serviced.
Hang on Hutch the OP said I am not mechanical!

The giveaway for me is the 3+ years storage not moved , hand brake had been applied. I agree with you. Jack up one side at a time , hand brake off, move linkage as much as possible rotate wheel forward if possible At least two full turns .And yes the most important tool the lump hammer.
If the brakes are seized on I doubt the hubs will come off easily, not forgetting the hub nuts are one shot and must be replaced.

Buckman’s advice for a non mechanical person was correct imo👍
