Caravan Tyre Pressures

On my caravan the owners manual says the tyre pressures sould be 1.9 bar The tyres however look under-inflated. The pressure guage I have I know is accurate but the tyres look very soft even when the caravan is empty. The van is a T@B weight 800kgs unladen and the tyres 195/55 R15. Should I increase the tyre pressures?

To calculate the tyre pressure in lbs.;

Multiply the weight of the 'van by the Max.Tyre Pressure (as stated on the tyre-wall), and divide this by twice (for single axle, or four times for twin axle)the Max.Load of one tyre (as stated on the tyre-wall). - It sounds a bit complicated, but it's not!

eg. Wt. of 'van = 1500 kgs.

Max. tyre pressure = 66psi (from tyre wall)

Max. Tyre Load = 775 kgs. (from tyre wall)

(1500 X 66) = 99000

Divided by (2 X 775) = 1550

= Tyre Pressure 64 psi.
