Caravan Tyres

I have recently returned from a excellent holiday in Southern Ireland which was marred by 1 incident. I hit a pothole in the road which dislodged the caravan mover, damaged the mover and the offside tyre.I am hoping that some of the cost of repair will be met by my insures. I am talking to Reich UK regarding repairs to the caravan mover.

My query is that the existing tyres are Matador 195/70 R14 96S (Dot Code 1507) having seen on this website and others concerns over Matador tyres I wonder whether I should replace them both with something else.

What do other people think and use?

Many thanks

Hugh

if the tyres were bugging me , i would change them ,but i would certainly get the suspension checked for alignment after a wack like that

"I wonder whether I should replace them both with something else."

Yes providing they are a leading brand and not ones costing

Hello

I read with interest that Matador tyres have concerns. Could you highlight what the problem(s) are with them?

I have problems with Matador and I wondered if others have had the same faults.

Hi big Al

I know of splits, bulges and the tread seperating from the casing in these tyres, there has been discussion of this on this forum before. Also I know that the Eriba forum has also discussed the problem.

There is also another question in these posting regarding the Matador tyres on a Lunar cravan.

Tyre problems seem to be occuring and some of the makes of tyres that are fitted to new caravans are relativly unknown to the marketplace.

I was wondering what tyres are fitted to new caravans.

I'll start the list.....My 2007 Fleetwood Heratage has Matador Stella tyres and the outer sidewalls are showing cracks.

I had two new tyres fitted by the dealer where i bought the caravan. This week i had a side wall blow out causing considerable damage to the alloy wheel, i suppose it could have been worse if i had not got Tyron bands. Coachman / dealer want
