Can anyone recommend a lightweight cleaner with a good suction for the van please?
Having bought two which wouldn't suck up a feather we bought a Dyson handheld like this one ...

although we didn't pay that much for it

It has to be on charge for 3 hours and you then get 6 minutes to clean. It's totally useless and wont pick up fluff off the carpet for example. Now we are loathe to spend any more money unless it's one that's good at the job.

I know its giving Dyson even more funds but we take our smaller home unit a DC26 with us in the van; that really can suck.
At home its great supplementing the larger one for various tasks because its so light to lift around etc.
As it is Dyson it is obscenely expensive even on offer and unfortunately no longer giving production jobs for the UK, but functionally it is good.

Our Dyson handheld got sluggish so I took it back to Dyson, Malmesbury.
A very intelligent lady engineer stripped it down and replaced a few parts and I must say it picks up the Springers hairs with ease now. It was the filter unit between the two main body parts that seems to have had some defect.
Ok it lasts 7 minutes but we do find that is enough for our needs today.
We also have a broom for the awning which SWMBO works wonders with

Earlier in the year, we bought a Rowenta Airforce Bagless Upright. It has a small triangular shaped head which gets right into corners and you can either use it with a built in brush/beater on a carpet or without the brush on hard floors. As it's 18v it can last up to 40 mins without a charge. It can be expensive at over £130 but we managed to get one from Pixmania (France) for just over £100. Mainly, it's great around the home but would also be excellent in the Caravan.

I think i would go & have a look at this Mains version

Looked at that one Sprocket and the reviews from other sites so have ordered it from Tesco. Pick it up Tuesday from our local store which saves £5 delivery

I've tried this out now and it's ideal with a strong suction. Cleaned the carpets a treat.

Wehave had the small battery Dyson in our van for 2 yers now and it is brilliant. We have large 8 meter van so plenty of carpet to clean but can do all in the 6 minutes battery lifewithout a problem. When not in the van we use it for the stairs at home and other small jobs around the house. Would not be without itnow.

LB, Herself has been using an old red Dirt Devil for over ten years now, and it was second-hand when she bought it.

Thanks Emmo. The one we've bought seems just what we've been looking for and puts the others we've had in the shade.
