Ok I admit to carrying a spare tap, three way water valve and a spare blade for the Thetford, plus gas leak spray when the cooker comes out to fix the grill again
Aparrently in Germany they are called an "English Spanner"

Had to use one yesterday as the nuts were imperial and my socket and spanner sets are only metric. Went against everything I was taught, but had no choice.Ha ha, 8 inch one side, 200 mm other side. PROTO profesionals, Americas 2nd best tool makers.
Only used in emergencys on other peoples caravans. 🙄
I have in my garage, a tool box with Whitworth spanners and sockets, that I got from my Dad, usefull , when the odd steam traction engine breaks down outside the house.Had to use one yesterday as the nuts were imperial and my socket and spanner sets are only metric. Still got my old AF spanners and sockets. Present from parents when I got my first motor bike.I have in my garage, a tool box with Whitworth spanners and sockets, that I got from my Dad, usefull , when the odd steam traction engine breaks down outside the house.
It is still nice to know that metric sockets still have Imperial sizes of drives, ie, 1/4", 3/8" ,1/2", 3/4", 1" etcStill got my old AF spanners and sockets. Present from parents when I got my first motor bike.
I had to get rid of all my Whitworth, BSF etc as I had purchased them as an apprentice from a military surplus shop in Leicester and they all had the MOD “ crowsfoot” stamp on them. Any receipts even if I originally had one were history. The reason they were binned was that when I first arrived in Devonport I was asked by a colleague if I carried tools in the car, and having any with a “crows foot” and no proof of purchase would lead to serious charges if the MoD police were to find them during one of the regular spot checks on leaving the base. Suffice to say after successfully leaving that evening they were dutifully dumped in a ditch on my way home, as the MOD police had right to search employees property without a warrant.I recently rennervated a outboard motor of 1957 vintage, would have been better if I'd had a set of Whitworth spanners, had to use adjustables, most of the tim.View attachment 3687e, hate them
I too have all those . Plus ive started carrying a jack in the van (Kojak) ,a few bulbs and a selection of stainless self taper .Screwdrivers, pliers, fuses, gaffer tape, adjustable wrench, knife, glues, multi meter, hammer for starters
Carry the Kojack in the car , they are really heavy, the early ones the seals would leak. So as a back up, I use a Scissor jack for safety.I too have all those . Plus ive started carrying a jack in the van (Kojak) ,a few bulbs and a selection of stainless self taper .
Difficult to use to tighten a screw on a hinge? CC will probably crack first!I still take a small tool box, but these days the real answer is “credit card and iPhone”.
Something like that except was a ratchet set and you could put the end over the nut on the pipe to tighten or loosen it. I only vaguely recall it as that was about 60 years ago,Are you talking about these sort of pipe adaptors ?
