Hi all,
We are expecting our first baby due in November. Going on this years lovely Easter, if it is nice weather next year we are planning a few days away. As the baby will be 5 months old by then we are hoping it will be fairly easy as they will be able to sleep in the moses basket still??

Has anyone any advice or tips or stories of there own adventures!

Hi Andrea
From our experience caravan holidays are very compatible with babies and young children. You have plenty of room for all the stuff they need, can set your own timetables for eating and sleeping and don't have problems with storing and preparing their food. A very handy item is a cool bag with some ice packs for day trips away from the caravan.

To answer your specific question, if they are still in the moses basket just place it on one of the single beds. Few caravans have the space for travel cots so when they grow too big for the moses basket just make up a 'short' bed for them in one of the singles using spare cushions. Get a folding bed guard to stop them from falling out the side. It can last them until they are old enough to sleep in a proper bed.

Happy caravanning :)

We had a Bluebird Europe 3 in 1967 when our children were both under 18 months old
It was 9ft 3in long and we went from Stoke on Trent to Berlin where we were living first tow ever
We went to Istanbul and lots of European sites
I removed the single bed mattress and hinged a piece of plywood to the front edge of the base so that it could hinge up and form a vertical side across the van being held in the upright position by 2 sliding bolts
The mattress was then replaced in the space between the hinged ply and the van front wall
The top off the pram then fitted inside so that the younger one slept in it while the older one slept in the space between the end of the pram top and the van side
All was well until a wooden doll was used as a weapon
Happy days !!!

My daughter was born in the December and we first took her in the March. Made up side bunk with folding side on it for sleeping. Did use disposable nappies for in the van but everything else remained the same as at home. Plenty of tupperware pots for freezing food for the trips is a good idea so you can blend before you go away. Have fun
