My granddaughter and her partner take their cars to a self service car wash in Royal Wooton Basset and are very positive in their feedback. Must admit their cars do look good. Well today my grandson and I met up and his new Tesla (dark grey) looked terrific. Turns out he too had gone to the same car wash as his sister. He told me he wouldn’t use hand car washes or the traditional rotating brush type in order to reduce the risk of damage to the paintwork. He gave the Carbana a full 10 out of 10 and he especially commented on the fact that the final rinse doesn’t leave water marks.

It’s a relatively new company but at £8 seems very good value.

Just 1 hour 15 mins each way from me.

There web site makes good sense, but just the two stations at the moment. Royal Wooton Bassett and Exeter. Will bare in mind for when the expand.

Yes a very new initiative in UK, more established in US. If we are heading towards Swindon I would call in, but not make a specific trip.

That’s by Aldi, round the corner from my daughter.

Not used it on the basis I wrongly assumed it was just a sponge and hose?
What do you get that we don’t have at home?

May giv it a go soon

We have not used a car wash for a couple of years as those brushes scratch your car. Many years ago we were in a car wash when the water stopped flowing. It scratched our Volvo 440. When we reported it to the service station owner he simply shrugged his shoulders and pointed to a sign stating that they accepted no responsibility!

Now we go to a local hand car wash and they seem to do a fairly good job. Sometimes with the help of OH, I try and wash our cars using the snow foam wash which seems to work quite well. Obviously I cannot do it in the winter months when the cars need washing more often.

Carbana isn’t a traditional car wash, I stopped using hand car washes as although our local ones no longer use a couple of sponges to soap down the whole car they now use snow foam. But they clamber on wheel arches or door cills to reach across the roof or stretch across the bonnet, when drying the car when wearing watches, bracelets and metal zip pulls on the sweatshirts or fleeces. All potentially likely to scratch the car.

I took my new car to a hand wash and think it might be the last time like what you said clamber on wheel arches they even use a brush for the roof, when they were drying it down paid the price .

All the people at the hand wash that we use regularly wear track suits so not belts. No issue with brush on roof as the whole roof is glass. On the Jeep they needed to clamber on wheel arches, but no need on the Lexus.
