Sorry, messed up there! I have a Abby Beaumaris but I can't get warm air to come through the vents in the caravan. The gas works on the fire, but there is a controller on the wall in the caravan that gives you various options (ie: Gas auto fan, gas slow fan, fan, electric auto fan and electric fan). What I can't figure out is whatever button we select it still only blows cold air through the caravan.

What are we doing wrong. Is there some kind of element in the electric that is stopping it from working. Also, is there a number where you can contact Carver direct????

Thanks

Hello Destine,

Lets start with the simple part of your question, Carver no longer produce or support touring caravan heaters. They sold that part of their business to Truma back in 1999.

Now for the slightly more complicated side.

You report that the Gas side is working so that's a good start. So the fan should distribute warm air along the ducts.

If that is not happening, then lets look at the simpler things that owners can do.

The ducts may have become detached from the fan housing.

The ducts may have become blocked or kinked. These are things that can be easily fixed.

Things that are bit more difficult, but the fan impeller may have become clogged with dust - needs cleaning, or the fan impeller may have lost its grip on the motor shaft.

Check the above, and if you still have a difficulty then contact your local caravan agent to have the heater fully investigated.

We have similar but as always on hook up just use the electric fan options. For our system to run warm we also have a switch labelled Fanmaster nest to the controller you describe and that has to be turned on as well.

Sorry if stating the obvious but it took us a go to figure it out

I'm a little confused? you appear to say the gas fire works? which should mean you will get hot air through the ducts while the fire is lit?

However, even with the fire lit, initially if you have the fan speed set too high then the air from the ducts will still feel cool/cold. Set it to 'gas slow fan' and see how it goes.

If however your just not getting hot on main electric? then theres a couple of possible reasons why.

First and not so obvious Gill!, the mains 240v isolation switch needs to be turned on, it's a 'fused switched spur', if you have electric water heating and found that switch? the Fanmaster switch is identical.

Next is it may have overheated and 'tripped' to reset you need to press a flap of plastic on the Fanmaster and this is over the back of the gas fire, to make things easy, heres a picture of where to press;

FAO Truma,

Your correspondent who has posted on this thread has I believe made two statements that are inaccurate please check and comment.

Truma did not take over Carver. Truma only purchased Carver's touring caravan interests only Space adn water Heaters, Crystal systems and caravan Mover. Carver continues producing its long established engineering clamps and it owns a number of other businesses here the UK and abroad in Europe, majoring in Environmental Climate control systems. They also own Wideny Leisure and Zig electronics.

Truma's Purchase was not in 1997.
