Hi everyone

We have just returned from a weekand at the east coast where we had to spend half of the weekend with no running water. we were loosing water from the water heater. I changed the O ring on the drain plug. It did not work. On closer inspection the water was coming from centre square of the heater on the outside. I have spoken to my local dealer who said it could be the fusible plug. Has anyone had any experience of this and is it easy to replace?

I look forward to reading any comments

Thanks

Dave.

Very easy to replace, it's a 13mm nut and a 3/8" drive socket is all that's required to get at it, the problem now is 'if' you can get a replacement?!

They have not been made since before Truma took over Carver in 99, stocks ran out early last year so no new ones are available unless a local dealer has any, other than that, I have refurbished ones on an exchange basis.

Dave,

Had same problem on Pageant Magenta circa 2003. You need an extension bar also for the socket, as the hex head is recessed I recall. As Gary says, we found replacement OK- vac packed Carver, and bought a spare at the time. The plug melting may also indicate an electrical fault hence the high temperature. I relaced plug and no further problems.

The fusible plug is likely to melt if the heater is turned on without any water in it, just remember to ensure it is filled first.
