Hi George,

We have not had any problems. Our Carver Mover was fitted to our first "fully Grown" 'van in 1998 and has been fitted to two others and has been on our Pageant Monarch (05) and still works. The work shop manager suggested that we have the remote control fitted, which we did but found that as it is always 'ready to receive' it drained the battery, so an isolator was fitted and now no more probs.

If we did not have this devise, we would not be caravanning as hubby is disabled and now partially sighted.

Good luck with it.

hi jennifer

the mover does indeed clamp to the chassis but the control box is fitted inside the van under the bunks near the battery so the floor has to be drilled through with a 25mm drill to take the wires from control box to mover.

I have the carver mover fitted brilliant bit of kit should have had one years ago not had any mechanical problems with it up to press (it was bought second hand and fitted by my self) there is however a couple of things to watch out for:-

1. the gap between rollers and tyre keep it at 20mm and check it from time to time any bigger and the rollers slip on wet tyres.

2. do fit an isolater switch as margaret w said if left on while not hooked up it will flatten the battery and B.T.W. use a 110amp battery it makes the mover work for longer.

3. carry a couple of wood battens 2x 25mm and 2x 50mm to put under the wheels to help get over obsticles the mover will climb up a 1 in 4 with no problems but struggles to get over anything more than 25mm high.

4. the remote, keep it safe i'm on my third, first one got lost when I left it on the a frame and drove off. the second was ruined when I dropped it in a puddle on site, it failed to work even when fully dried out, and at 50 quid a throw for a new one they are not cheap.

they are a good investment though and after you have had it on for a couple of trips out you will wonder how you ever managed without one.

i know how good they are, andit is only a small caravan that i am fitting it to, but it is stored in a barn and moving it in ther is a bit of a fuss as there is a 2-3 cm ledge to push it up and it takes a bit of rocking backwards and forwards to get it uo the ledge, and last time i had a close call as it nearly went into a trailer. thanks for the tips though.

We had a Carver Mover on our previous van for 10 years, great bit of kit.

On ours the wires were taken up through existing holes in the floor, so no need for extra drilling. I think back then vans had more vent holes!

I have experienced roller slip due to the gap being too large, is the adjustment within the scope of DIY, this on a Truma SE

i will have to check. my caravan is old, and the battery is housed in the front locker. i would rather use existing holes instead of drilling more.
