Cascade warter heater

I have just renewed the drain plug O ring on my water heater.
I checked to see if the plug above it was tight but it wasn't.
It turns 90 deg. but is not very tight.
Water does not seem to be leaking from it so is it ok like that ?

The plug above the drain valve is the heaters pressure relief valve. But as long as it's not leaking then it should be ok

I thought the plug above drain plug was to allow air to get in when draining the tank, at least it’s what I had on an Avondale and that just turned 90 degrees.

The first models, it was just deemed a pressure relief valve. When it becasme apparent that some caravanners were having trouble draining their water systems because of air locks, On later models it served both purposes.

This always makes me smile, prv or qdv? The spring rate is actually 50psi and the tank is forced back under that pressure as the tie rod holding it stretches!!

If it were just a QDV, there would have been no need for a spring, it would have been either bung, like the drain plug, or an on off valve.
