I am interested in

visiting a couple of caravan club sites.

Strid wood being one of them, but in the directions etc it says to check unit length as they are restricted to 28ft.

Can anyone tell me do they mean car/caravan together, i have a abbey gt 418 and this seems to be the norm for size these days, we tow with a c class merc but the overal outfit would be well in excess of 28ft.I wouldnt have thought our caravan was very long when i see some of the double wheel bases around today?

Regards maddy

We have an Abbey GTS 416 which is, I believe, the same length as your 418. We went into Strid Wood in March and there was no problem getting onto the site, or moving the 'van onto a pitch.

The only "moment" we had was at Bolton Abbey, in the pitch dark and raining cats and dogs. The archway that the road passes through seems to be a tight squeeze. However, on returning during daylight hours, there's plenty of room.

If you have any doubts, give the wardens a call, they were very helpful.

Enjoy!

Hi Madeleine, it refers to the length of your caravan, we have a 26ft twin axle conqueror, the site is lovely, highly recommended, as said earlier, the only tricky spot is the sandstone arch on the road in!

kind regards, Andrew.
