Mid morning Friday we had a phone message left telling us a Caravan Towing

course next Thursday had been cancelled. To say the least I am angry. We don't

currently have a caravan but, as retiring, decided to get one. We arranged the course then ordered the caravan, to be collected after the course.

As its too far to go each day accommodation had been booked for two nights.

To rub salt in if we use the CC insurance we will lose the 10% discount for having done the course. To make it even worse they propose the two days leading up to Witson for the replacement dates both after we pick up the van, insure it and when we have booked up to go away for the first time!.

We pick up the caravan on the 23rd May. If we hadn't been planning on doing the course we could have collected the van a month or so back! The caravan is from Campbells Caravan, near Blackpool, and we are in South Essex! This is why we are so ANGRY with them for not making alterative arrangements, Its my wife who drives and its many years since she has towed and then dinghy's, The alternative dates for the cancelled course are of no use to us does any one please know of somewhere in South Essex or near by that does towing training?

Hello John, Had a look at the website of The Camping & Caravanning Club and they have a 2 Day course listed this weekend (14/15 May) at Cheltenham. Not ideal and would mean joining C&CC as well as CC but I can vouch for the course. I have done CC and C&CC courses and would say that the C&CC course is slightly better structured. Like you I had not caravaned before and the courses gave me the confidence (not to mention the 10% discount) to go off to the dealers, pick up my brand new van and tow some 200 miles home!. Good luck. Graham
